RAW 14/6/2021 - The Phantom Piper (Niven)

We start the show as we ended the last, with some possessed demon girl laughing. Alexa Bliss gives everyone portents of doom about what's to come, which to be fair, she could give us every week and it'd be accurate about watching RAW.

Nikki Cross defeated Charlotte Flair by countout in another match where Charlotte dominated but then was distracted by Rhea Ripley so lost. The worrying thing is that I think this is the WWE trying to push Nikki Cross. They just suck at pushing faces now.

John Morrison surprises everyone by pinning Jeff Hardy fairly clean with Starship Pain. The sort of win Morrison's been needing since he came back to the WWE, but likely too late now. Hardy hobbled around in pain, which led Cedric Alexander to show up and demand a match. Cue an impromptu match where if Cedric beat Jeff Hardy, Jeff would retire. Instead, the tired and hurt Jeff easily beat that young upstart clean as a whistle. Infuriatingly stupid.

Then it's time for Eva Marie's big re-debut on RAW. Her opponent? Naomi. Twitter is sad at this. Eva Marie is flanked by a monster bodyguard, only for the bodyguard to get in the ring and the reveal to be Eva is the manager. Swerve! Her "protege" is none other than Piper Niven AKA Viper, one of the best personalities from UK wrestling who has been in NXT for a few years. So naturally, RAW commentary team had no idea who she was. Piper won clean in about 40 seconds. Bad use of Naomi, but a great main roster debut for someone who could be their proper next monster heel in the womens division.

Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke pose backstage until Natalya and Tamina confront them. This actually happened.

Randy Orton and Matt Riddle beat The New Day in a long decent tag match.

Rhea Ripley beats Asuka in a mediocre contest.

Lashley tells everyone that at Hell in a Cell he is going to have Drew McIntyre hung, drawn and quartered. Well, that's lovely.

Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax have a ponderous match which ends when Reginald runs in, only for Alexa to start possessing Reginald. Dear god...

Jakxon Ryker defeats Elias by count out. This is an endurance test to even write about, let alone watch 3 hours of.

Drew Mac and AJ Styles fight for a bit with good chemistry before Lashley comes out for a beatdown, and Omos joins in. Then suddenly the Vikings make the save, and we got ourselves a 6 man tag courtesy of Teddy Lo... no, it just happened.

Finally after two and a half hours we get some excitement, as the roster actually interacts! Drew Mac and Omos stare down! (Omos is still green as grass but well protected.) Lashley got it on with the Vikings, which was fun. AJ Styles got to enjoy not fighting Ryker. Chaos ensued and a distraction allowed Drew to hit Lashley with the Claymore for the three.

Which surely means Lashley is winning on PPV. But at least there was something decent on a 3 hour show...

This RAW was awful. It gets 3/10 and those 3 points are solely for the 6 men in the main event. Oh and Piper Niven. She's great too.
